Conference Focus
Chieftaincy is one of the oldest religio-cultural institutions on the African continent. In the contemporary times, some social scientists, scholars and even policy makers have been asking serious questions regarding chieftaincy ranging from the authenticity, relevance, constitutional matters, democratic value, ethical and spiritual, to the crises within the institution. This conference seeks to engage scholars, and policy makers on key chieftaincy concerns from a variety of perspectives. We are interested in multi-disciplinary exchanges and insights.

Event Profile

The Conference, though first time being organized, is intend to be an annual or two-yearly affair, to enable a purposeful and concerted effort to reshape our traditional institutions in contributing meaningfully to development and be proactive with contemporary challenges.
The conference seeks to stimulate active engagement in the coming years through quality research papers and publications and other localized seminars to pursue its objectives.
Ten papers will be selected from submissions by Chiefs who want to make their contribution on the first day of the programme. The second day will have various experts’ presentations; and the last day afternoon and evening for resolutions and conference declaration.

Publishing Schedule
Draft Final Paper and Workshop Proposals submitted online by 15th March 2012
Provisional Acceptance of Draft Final Papers on 15th April 2012
Final Papers to be submitted online by 30th April 2012 for editorial review & quality check
Accepted Presenters must register and pay the Presenter Fee by 30th May 2012
The Conference Proceedings will be published on CD-Rom with ISBN Number

Review Committee
A distinguished International Programme Committee will evaluate and provide feedback on all final draft papers received, provide feedback on final presentations, and chair sessions.
